Rustic Cottage Pie

- 500g Beef Mince
- 1kg Potatoes
- 2 Carrots
- 1 bunch Chard
Pantry Ingredients
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 cup beef stock
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 30g butter
- ¼ cup milk
- Olive oil
- Salt and pepper
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (180°C fan-forced).
- Peel and chop the potatoes.
- Boil for 15–20 minutes until tender, then mash with the butter and milk.
- While the potatoes cook, heat a little olive oil in a frying pan.
- Cook the onion until softened, then add the garlic and diced carrots.
- Add the beef mince and cook until browned.
- Stir in the tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce and beef stock.
- Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Stir through the chopped chard until wilted.
- Spoon the beef mixture into an ovenproof baking dish.
- Spread the mashed potato over the top and rough the surface with a fork.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden.
Allow to stand for 5 minutes before serving.
