Beef Chow Mein (with Pineapple & Beans)

- 450g beef mince
- 100g green beans

- ½ green cabbage, shredded
- 1 carrot, julienned
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
On-hand staples from the pantry
- 1 cup pineapple pieces (tinned or frozen)
- 1 brown onion (link to website)
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)
- 1 tbsp oil or a wedge of butter (link to butter on website)
- 1 tsp cornflour (optional, for thickening)
- 1/2 cup Basmati Rice (link to website)
- Heat oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add onion & beef mince and cook until browned.
- Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Stir in cabbage and carrot, cook until softened.
- Add rice, beans and pineapple.
- Pour in the soy sauce and oyster sauce, mix well, and add water to soften.
- (Optional) Add cornflour mixed with a little water to thicken.
- Simmer for 2–3 minutes and serve hot.
