A Healthier Pasta Alternative

We all love a good bowl of pasta – yum! So here at OrganicBox, we have come up with some wheat-free pasta alternatives made from OrganicBox vegetables that can reduce your carb intake, while increasing your fibre, vitamin and mineral intake!
 
1. Spaghetti Squash: Spaghetti squash is an excellent pasta substitute. Once cooked, its flesh can be separated with a fork into strings which resemble spaghetti noodles — hence its name.
 
2. Spiralised Vegetables: zucchini, carrots, turnips, beets and cucumbers (delish cold or warm!). Make sure not to peel your organic veg when spiralizing as this is where most of the nutrients are stored.
 
3. Eggplant or zucchini lasagne. Simply cut them lengthwise into thin slices and roast them, then use them as a substitute for lasagne sheets!
 
4. Cabbage Lasagne: simply boil the leaves until they can be easily bent without breaking and use them as a lasagne substitute.
 
5. Cabbage Noodles:  slice and boil the “cabbage noodles” until they are soft enough to pierce with a fork.
 
 6. Sprout pasta: blanche the sprouts in boiling water for a few seconds and then run under cool water. Drain and top with your favourite sauce!
