Here at Organic Box, we use the BioBag World Australia 100% compostable produce rolls for all produce and have created a BioBag 100% compostable liner for our boxes. We are now almost completely plastic-free, making OrganicBox not only a great choice for your health, but also a great choice for our planet.
About BioBag
BioBag World Australia is an Adelaide-based manufacturer offering eco-friendly compostable alternatives to plastic bags that break down anywhere oxygen and microorganisms exist, with no toxic or microplastic residues. Biobags are completely non-toxic, and are made from corn starch, a renewable resource that breaks down during the composting process. The product was created in Italy and has been developed over 25 years of research and innovation by Novamont.
OrganicBox: An Eco-Friendly Choice
We regularly discuss the environmental benefits of choosing organic produce. Organic farming practices reduce pollution, conserve water, reduce soil erosion, increase soil fertility, and use less energy. Farming without harmful pesticides protects our vital pollinators and local flora and fauna.
Alongside providing fresh and tasty organic produce, we employ a range of other environmental initiatives:
- OrganicBox has made it a priority to go plastic-free in order to contribute to society in a sustainable way. Plastics take hundreds of years to decompose and are made of harmful chemicals via toxic processes.
- We aim to source only local produce where possible, in an aim to reduce the need for transport and resources.
- We deliver directly to you, reducing the amount of transport required for you to receive your weekly groceries.
- We clean and reuse our boxes to reduce waste. And now our new lining will be made of a corn-based product that is fully compostable, meaning you can put it straight into your compost bin!
- We use waste and water-wise eco-friendly practices on the farm where possible, and our farm is certified organic, meaning that it is free of toxic chemicals and GMO.
