Nijiseiki pear is arguably the most recognized of the Asian pears. It originated in Japan in about 1900 and was responsible for the high popularity of pears in Japan. Nijiseiki pear is round, yellow-skinned, is easily bruised, but stores well up to six months. Skin smooth and thin. Greenish yellow and mottled with green. Flesh white, fruity, sweet, slightly tart and quite juicy.
